A vote for Kamala doesn't make you a Democrat, it makes you a patriot.
Inside the Power Lounge with The Meteor, Tarana Burke, an interview with THEE Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, and a night of progressive marching orders.
Friends!
What a 24 hours it’s been! To start, here’s a a little video of me getting yesterday morning, tired on three hours of sleep. But me and my under eye bags are ready and raring to go:
Last night, Jamie Raskin’s mustard and I stayed out way too late having the absolute best time at the Hotties for Harris party, and this morning I woke up at 7:30am to tell you all about the thrilling, joy-injected day we had yesterday. After a quick grocery run to get some food and extra coffee—there’s never enough coffee!!—for the Airbnb I’m sharing with my colleagues from The Meteor, Cindi Leive and Meredith Shepherd, I was off to the McCormick Place Convention Center for a full day of panels with leading representatives, artists, and change-makers for The Meteor x Emerge’s Power Lounge Live Talk series.
I got lost in the massive convention center while trying to find our stage. McCormick Place is not where the main DNC speeches are taking place, but rather a secondary convention center where all the daytime events are happening, including the caucuses, the delegation rooms, and more. After an hour of non-stop walking back and forth trying to find the correct hall for our series, my watch blared out to announce I was almost at my 10,000 steps for the day, and it was only 11am.
First up for me in the Power Lounge Live Talks series was a conversation with the one and only, Lynda Carter. I talked with Lynda about the everlasting legacy of Wonder Woman and using the symbolism of powerful women to uplift and empower other women along the way. She also talked about cruelty of Trump and what he’s done to divide the country. She talked about how we teach our children to be people that know how to speak the truth and speak truth to bully culture, that you don’t have to call people slurs. “Can you imagine the President of the United States of America looks, actually looks, for names that will stick to his enemies? How disgusting.” (You can watch the conversation here.)
My slightly unhinged fangirl intro of my favorite kisser/superhero, Lynda Carter:
