Special Edition: Publication Day for my Dad’s Memoir!
Happy release day to “Dancing on the Edge.”
Hi friends,
I wanted to let you know that my father, the actor and acrobatic dancer Russ Tamblyn, has been working—for the last twenty-fives years—on a memoir about his life in the entertainment business, and it’s finally out today! He has spent over two decades compiling all the tales from his extraordinary and singular journey as an actor, dancer, and artist, and Dancing on the Edge: A Journey of Living, Loving, and Tumbling through Hollywood includes them all: behind-the-scenes stories from the set of West Side Story; working with David Lynch on Twin Peaks; run-ins and drink-outs with the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Fred Astaire, Paul Newman; and so much more.
The book also chronicles his life as a fine artist in the 1960s at the center of the Semina culture movement, working with and alongside close friends and legends such as Neil Young, Dennis Hopper, and Dean Stockwell (who lived with my dad in Topanga Canyon at that time). My dad's life is rich with stories of his family, his days in Hollywood during the golden years of musicals and MGM, and his time spent with some of the most influential visionaries in the creative arts.
I’m so proud of my dad for all the hard work he’s put into this book, and I can’t wait for you all to read it. Dancing on the Edge is available now everywhere books are sold, as is the audiobook version, read by the man himself.
This morning, Dad and I were guests on The View to talk about his brilliant book. Below is the interview and a few special behind-the-scenes pictures.
Really looking forward to reading it, your dear dad has had a fascinating life and thanks to him for sharing with all of us.
This is amazing! 🤩
