Hi friends,
This week I went back to one of my favorite cities in the world, London, England, where I lived on and off for several years many moons ago. This time around it was my daughter Marlow’s spring break, so we came out to visit my husband David as he finished up the European portion of his stand-up tour, The End of The Beginning of The End. We were fortunate to get some insanely good weather while there (England is known for its almost year-round wet, rainy weather) so we spent as much time out exploring as possible. I got to visit a few of my favorite pubs in the city (The Ship Tavern being one of them), eat the most excellent fish & chips and watch my daughter squeal with joy at the Tower of London while getting to see the Crown Jewels on display. I even caught up with a few friends who live here or happened to be in town this week, including Blake Lively who was there promoting her new film, Another Simple Favor.
Below are photos of some of my favorite moments from this past week in London. I already miss the big double-decker red buses and quiet pubs where the only background music was the sound of merriment and friends catching up at the end of a long day.

It has been a wonderful whirlwind of a week, so I don’t have my usual weekly “let go” for you today (unless maybe we count jet lag? Because I am FEELING IT). But I wanted to keep our Good Riddance series going and I encourage you all to head to the comments to share what it is you’re letting go of today. (For those new here, your let go can be big or small, silly or serious, an object, a moment, a thought, anything really! You can check out many of our previous Good Riddance posts here if you’d like to see what we get up to every Saturday.)
Before I turn it over to all of you, just a quick reminder that next weekend, the incredible poet Sarah Kay is joining us for our monthly series, The Short and Sweet, our monthly Zoom for paid subscribers. Since it’s National Poetry Month, Sarah and I will be talking all about the genre before leading community members in a mini poetry writing workshop. We’ll discuss how to craft the strongest poem possible, how to be your own best editor, and how to use the strongest, boldest parts of your imagination to come up with the line of a lifetime. Mark your calendars, The Short and Sweet with special guest Sarah Kay is taking place on Sunday, April 27 at 1pm ET. (The Zoom link will be emailed to paid subscribers about thirty minutes before the start of the Zoom.)
And now, without further ado (iykyk), Happy Good Riddance Saturday! Share what you’re letting go of in the comments below!
London, how glorious! Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been teaching in the same classroom for ten years, and I’m being moved to a new teaching team for next year.
So, this week I’m letting go of the “known,” and leaning into the “unknown.”
Looking forward to the Zoom next weekend.
Sending love and sanity out to everyone.
Letting go of the buyer’s remorse that I have over my new house. Miss my old house deeply. Made the switch for the best of reasons (it was a big downgrade to be debt free) but didn’t realize how much the previous house meant to my spirit. Need to find my spirit again here, in this new space. So I’ll focus on that instead of the regret. 🌻
