London, how glorious! Thank you for sharing.

I’ve been teaching in the same classroom for ten years, and I’m being moved to a new teaching team for next year.

So, this week I’m letting go of the “known,” and leaning into the “unknown.”

Looking forward to the Zoom next weekend.

Sending love and sanity out to everyone.

Stepping into the unknown is gracefully surrendering to your life’s unique journey. Love you, Alison 😘 (from London😁)

Letting go of the buyer’s remorse that I have over my new house. Miss my old house deeply. Made the switch for the best of reasons (it was a big downgrade to be debt free) but didn’t realize how much the previous house meant to my spirit. Need to find my spirit again here, in this new space. So I’ll focus on that instead of the regret. 🌻

Loved looking at your photos. 🩷

Something that has been a big fear in Motherhood for me has finally happened. Lice. My son got it at school. We bought the kits, we treated everyone. And I'm now finding that, now that this huge fear of mine has come to pass, I'm actually very calm about it. As soon as we discovered that the dreaded letter we received before Spring Break had not been just a precaution, and found the first creepy crawly, I have just handled it.

I think we have now had, in the house, almost every possible thing the kids could get from school. And as Mom, I have handled it all.

I'm letting go of this big fear today. Another Motherhood experience under my belt. Another (super gross) story to tell. And to he// with stigmas too. I feel like there is a stigma about lice and people who get it. It could be any of us, at any time, in any place. This is being human. And being Mom.

Much 🩷 to all.

As a classroom teacher, you just experienced a right of passage. Amazing that you were calm in the fear. Hopefully that will be your last experience with lice!

David looks so happy in that picture, like he was oblivious to the score of the Braves game.

So jealous you got to go to London, the Tower of London is one of my favorites, especially when they tell you the stories of those who didn't make it out alive.

Tomorrow I get to let go of Passover. I keep kosher during the holiday and I feel it's important to honor the sacrifices of my ancestors, but giving up all the food I like to eat for eight days is always a struggle and I definitely look forward to being able to break the fast, often going to IHOP and saying all of your pancakes please, just keep them coming. Always a little jealous the other side gets candy, Easter eggs and bunny rabbits and my side is: Hey, you know all those things you enjoy eating? Well you can't. For 8 days. Enjoy!

And shoutout to my dog, who let go of his fear of going into town and returned to the farmers market after a month away. I had to drive him, which given that it's quicker to walk there goes against everything the market stands for, but he got to see his dog friends, some human friends and got treats, so it was a good first step.

Walking my dogs is a two steps forward, fourteen back sort of deal. Sometimes it's a scent or their form of ambrosia... bunny droppings. On other walks it's pooping several yards past a garbage can or unleashed pets and mine are miffed since their manners are less than gracious and we need to huddle in a pile of ticks and lord knows what else. I've had 6 dogs over thirty years. My first, Bonni, hung out with a neighbor's Dobermans while I vacationed in Mexico and drank margaritas. When I got back, she was fully house and leash trained. What I learned was... training is a simple one and done process. With my next dog relationship, and every one after, and along with twin humans, I learned I am occasionally a goddamn idiot and one and done is a miracle. I should've put my knees on the ground and sobbed with gratitude that those Dobermans lived next door. Today, I'm giving up hoping for one and done and learning to see every time my dogs sit nicely without thrashing like a pair of wildebeest **side note... do wildebeest thrash???** I will be moved by the grace that can exist in a single dollop of unexpected perfection. Also... dog training is like getting up off the ground as you age.... if you think you're done and stop practicing... it'll bite you in the...er...ego.

Goodness, I always look forward to this- and London is INCREDIBLE. And you and London and you and Blake and you and David are a vibe I welcome and treasure.

Ummmm, I let goooooo (with vengeance) of my alarm today…? ⏰ 😊 What a freakin week, all long crazy days, work going busily and well, but so very far from what I planned. You’ve heard the saying “You make a plan, God laughs”? And I am such a planner..maybe I should work on giving THAT up!

I absolutely hear/see/feel every new shitshow piece of news every darn day, but right now….just taking a healing moment. Need to! 🗞️

Love to you, Amber and LITD Fam.🥰

I’m surprised that there’s not one mention of the ruling against trans people in England this week. I realize you can’t cover it all, but I’d begun to think of you as a thought leader when it comes to politics. The NYT could do with an op Ed about the juxtaposition of seeing your favorite city capitulate to conservative politics making an entire group of people the scapegoat even though they now have a liberal Prime Minister. That’s the essay I’d like to see in the world, and perhaps unfairly, the kind of essay I’d expect read from you.

Hi Charlotte, thanks for your thoughtful comment here. I was on a much needed vacation with my family and purposefully gave myself the week off of any news, so it’s actually the first I’m hearing of this ruling believe it or not. I have been working on a piece on this subject as a universal whole for some time, and hope to share it here in our newsletter when it’s ready.

It’s definitely so very VERY much. All in its time. (Although of course I get the urgency.) I truly mean this: I’d love to read YOUR thoughts as well.

I'll be in London tomorrow for 4 nights with my young adult daughter. She's taking me on a 'book crawl'. Not sure what to expect, but know it'll weigh a lot in my suitcase. I look forward to our girls trip!

I am going to let go of procrastinating and doing all important things at last minute in a rush! Hope it works.
