Wow, that cube room!! So cool even without the history behind it, but extra cool because of that storied past... pun intended :)

You've really inspired me with this edition, Amber -- from the community aspect being key to the retreat, as well as the four days of quiet decompression you needed before you could jump in to writing fully. I work a demanding, full-time day job, and I get SO frustrated about how "unproductive" I am with my own fiction writing & personal passions outside of work -- but is it any wonder, really, that my brain can't make a quick transition in the evenings, after I've already burned all my fuel?? A pretty "duh" light bulb moment, but one I apparently needed today..... Thank you <3

Agreed! There is something about Oregon that inspires and invites the imagination to run wild. If you’ve never been on a self guided retreat to Playa SummerLake, it’s another incredible place to tap into creative spirit. Check it out!

I just spent a morning wandering museums in Santa Fe NM...the Georgia O'Keefe museum is interesting because it creates space and timeljne of her work.

It took a LONG time to get from Wisconsin doing watercolors of flowers in a vase to SC to NYC then out here.

She evolved. And it took years. I mean, I was today years old when I learned she died in 1986. I mean...she loved thru 6 years of Reagan!

Our need for space outside our own brain to create means we have to wander and stare and sit and not DO.

Then we just build trust with ourselves that it is gonna work the way it is supposed to.

Thank you for the reframing of writer's block! I'm not a writer but a crafter. I have a few things I want to work on but I have not had the inspiration or motivation lately. Because it needs gestation.

What a beautiful place Soapstone is!

Wow! What an amazing space. Thank you for sharing, Amber, and for the reminder of the deep importance of community within the solitary space writing can be. I will be writing in Oregon this fall and winter and just might need to check out this marvelous place. ❤️
