Thank you for this insight into an issue about which we in the public know far too little (okay, most of us know far too little about most things, but that's a whole other issue). I have a couple of friends "in the industry" and I know how hard they work, and for what is often not much money (and as Ms. Clark noted, the flow of that money is unreliable and unpredictable). Good luck to the strikers!

Appreciated this as someone who has been a member of SAG AFTRA since I was five and often rely on scraping by on residuals to make insurance. I’m not WGA but I have spent the last two years trying to sell a TV show and I can see how unfortunately desperate the situation has become for many writers - those beginning their journey like me and those well established. Union stuff has always been confusing to me, thank you for shining a light in a very human way.
